Selected Student Comments from the ISM4330 course where I served as the instructor:
[1] I graduate in 10 days and I can honestly say that I have never had an instructor care about his/her class's learning and success like Arunima did with this class. She genuinely cared and it translated in her performance as in instructor.
[2] Her enthusiasm to teach the course and provide an interactive and engaging classroom experience greatly helped my understanding and enjoyment of the course. Even when the class wasn't feeding into the interaction due to the late time, she kept it moving and still encouraged us to participate.
[3] She is one of the best professors I have had in terms of caring about the success of her students. She went above and beyond what professors typically do in a course. She really strived to make sure the material was simplified for easy understanding and that her students would benefit from the course.
[4] She worked so hard and listened to our opinions quite a bit which was helpful and refreshing
[5] A major strength was the enthusiasm and passion the professor carried with her. You could tell she loved to come to class to teach us her favorite topics.
[6] She was always quick to respond to emails and listened to students concerns
[7] being willing to help at any time and providing lots of resources for us to learn.
[8] Very enthusiastic about the subject and compassionate towards her students. Thank you for always being so present and positive!
[9] The professor would consult with each student individually to ensure that they were able to understand and apply the material.
[10] She is very nice and she make the course clear enough that I can easily catch up with her.
[11] Very approachable and easy to communicate with instructor.
[12] The instructor is good at making sure that everyone understand the concept and is willing to slow down the pace.
[13] Professor Chhikara is always looking to help students through her in class lectures and office hours.
[14] The professor was very enthusiastic of the subject matter and really wanted students to learn the material.
[15] I appreciate the instructor facilitating conversation with the students.
[16] Professor Chhikara is very knowledgeable on the topics that we covered during this semester. She is always willing to take time out of her schedule to work with the students to ensure that they understand and learn the course material. She is able to explain complex topics in many different ways and adapts to different students and their individual learning styles.
[17] The instructor is always making sure students understand what is being taught. She goes out of her way to set time outside of class to meet up, emails students very quickly if they had a question and stays after class to speak to students who have more questions or to look over answers from past homework assignments and quizzes. The days dedicated to reviewing for the exams and mock tests were very helpful to making me feel more confident about the exam and what I learned.
[18] Her enthusiasm and willingness to improve as a professor
[19] In-depth explanations, comprehensive and informative knowledge base that allowed for clear and concise teaching that ensured difficult calculations were made easy to understand.
[20] Professor Chhikara was an excellent professor by explaining the concepts of the course in in-depth detail.
[21] Dr. Chhikara is one of the kindest professors at UF. She really cares for her students to understand the material, and shapes the class around the students understanding of the material, which is appreciated.
Selected student comments from the Business Statistics Classes where I served as a TA
[1] She was very helpful with answering all the questions from the audience, with the ability to focus on specific concepts as well as ordered steps for complex theories… Was highly engaged while maintaining a positive learning environment, in the early morning classroom setting, and willing to answer any question to review the material. I enjoyed how she combined lecture and illustration on the white board, easier for me to understand the material… She focused on the topics that I considered challenging from previous quizzes. Personally, I never had previously interacted with a TA that engaged with this level of support. I am confident that she will be highly successful in her future endeavors…
[2] Arunima has been a critical part of my educational experience in Statistics. Even if I do not need any "TA help", I still show up early and stay for the entire session that she teaches. She is very patient with all the students and I always get Gold Nuggets and great pointers or tricks to help me retain important information.
[3] I was greatly impressed not just with Arunima’s knowledge but with her ability to (a) understand where we were having problems, (b) make the information clear in ways different but complementary to our professor, and (c) soothe our stressed sense of failing intellect. Most importantly, we would begin each new session with our professor, feeling far more confident, inspired, and prepared than when we left him on the previous day. Her authentic kindness, good humor, and determination were readily apparent to my classmates and me.
[4] She was extremely punctual and every session started precisely on time; She was very well organized. Every day she had the class materials and the practice quizzes all set to discuss and explain; She was very poised in these classes; the Research Stat class was conducted under a great deal of pressure because of the short timeline, and some of the students were struggling, so there was a great deal of frustration and even some confusion in the class and ‘Nima handled this stress very gracefully; Perhaps most importantly, she knew the content cold and could explain it very gracefully, rephrasing answers to try to explain a problem from a different viewpoint.
[5] Arunima was our TA for the QMB 7565 Course (Statistical Research Methods) in the DBA program . Arunima is a great teacher. She was there early for every TA session patiently answering all our questions and doubts in statistics. She communicated openly with us and demonstrated excellent teaching skills. She is very knowledgeable in this subject and took pains to clarify our basic concepts rather than just solve the problem. This made us understand the subject better. She also gave excellent real life examples with clear diagrams and explanations to clarify statistical concepts in research methods. She was sensitive to our needs ( a very diverse class in terms of experiences and statistical abilities). She is a warm personality with a friendly disposition and genuine interest in teaching. In a brief period of time she developed a strong rapport with the class. Any student that will have Arunima as teacher is truly lucky!”
[6] She is very knowledgeable in the subject and most importantly she was super patient with those of us that had many (many, many...) questions about the previous day's lecture.
[7] Arunima has done a fabulous job w/ filling in statistical knowledge gaps and answering questions.
[8] Arunima is extremely personable and puts students at ease, while at the same time projecting an air of confidence in her subject matter. She is able to tailor and change her approach to explanations to the level of the student understanding and appropriately explains at varying levels. If a student needs a concept explained she does a good job of both high level “rules” along with the “why” the rule exists. It is a great approach that really helps us understand the material. She also has a command of practical application which makes it easy to see how to use the concept in everyday life. I really appreciated the time and availability to learn from Arunima.
Student Comments about what they learnt in the class
[1] I have already been able to apply the things I've learned about revenue management with my other courses. I think it's valuable information, even though I may not go into a field about supply chain but I will be able to apply efficiency techniques to my every day life.
[2] Everything about this course is helpful for future professionalism. Learning about revenue management related directly to real world companies and problems.
[3] Just having the knowledge of how to look simplistically at various business models and figure out how to best max profit or satisfy customers is very valuable.
[4] The course is interesting. It provides a unique outlook at looking at supply chains and how to best optimize them, which I thought was cool.
[5] Very good start, ideas and class were structured well to cover and practice its basic concepts.
